I am on Day Four of the USANA Reset Kit.  By now I'm sure you have probably seen more than your share of posts on the benefits and drawbacks of the Plan.  I did a lot of research online before I tried it too but what ultimately convinced me to take the Reset Challenge was seeing the results of those around me.   My brother in law in particular had amazing results with the USANA Reset and has moved on to the Transform Phase.  Hopefully he will allow me to share a before & after online.

USANA Reset Day Four Weigh In

So Day Four finds me doing my morning weigh in as usual.  In my Day Three post,  I shared that I cheated last night while on a rare date night.  So I'm hoping for the best but I'm not going to get worked up if I have stayed the same or my weight has gone up.  My previous weight on my unforgiving Tanita Scale was 195.2 and today I am 194.6!  It's only .6pounds but I'll take it!  The biggest take away this morning is USANA Reset is somewhat forgiving.  Most importantly, my BMI is changing.  When I started the Challenge, it was 36.3 and now it's 35.6. Dropping my BMI more than weight loss is the ultimate goal for me.  However I'm not going to tempt fate.  One more day and I intend on finishing strong.
So with my weight loss today, I am 3.8 pounds lighter, I feel great no side effects.  My slight headache is gone & energy is good.  I can't help but think I may have blew my chance to have the 5 pounds 5 Day weight loss.  However I don't dwell on that long.  I'm happy enough with my progress to continue.  Now hopefully my USANA order with my Transform Products will arrive before I finish with the USANA Reset so I can transition right into it!

USANA Reset Next Steps Plan

After reading more about USANA Foods, and viewing information like this video on YouTube, I discovered that it's all about the power of low GI foods and the importance of making good food choices. Thanks for checking in to see how I'm doing and my USANA Reset Review Day Three.  Today began with me on the scale.  This morning there is no weight loss to measure, I was exactly the same as yesterday, 195.2.  No matter, I am still happy with what I have been able to achieve so far.  I have my 16 ounces of water first thing and get my day started.
I have now settled in to my routine of having something every two hours although for some reason it gets confusing in the afternoon with the addition of the vegetables.  I don't know why that trips me up!  The slight headache that I've had the past couple of days is gone and hopefully will not return.  

According to the USANA FAQ's, headaches and fatigue are fairly common in many weight loss and exercise programs during the first two or three days due to adjustments in calories, carbohydrates, blood glucose levels, caffeine intake, or simply the nature of making sudden drastic lifestyle changes. If you experience headaches, fatigue, light headedness or extreme hunger, eat an additional serving of fruit or vegetables, or a low-GI meal. For this reason, make sure you check with your Doctor before beginning this or any weight loss program like I did.

Today does come with it's own challenges.  Because it's Saturday and they tend to be less scheduled in my house.  I also love to watch cooking shows on PBS.  Today is not the day to watch Martha Stewart make indoor grilled chicken or Lidia Bastianich on her show Lidia's Italy with the Italian Food you can practically taste through the TV.  I turn off the TV and make better use of my time by walking a mile with a  Walk At Home Video I find on YouTube.  The program does say not to do intense workouts but I think it should be okay.  Heck it may even help on the scale tomorrow!

In the evening I had a slip up.  My children were invited to a last minute sleep over which meant my husband & I were able to have a date night.  We went to a local restaurant  and even though I had vegetables, (grilled artichoke & caesar salad) the artichoke was grilled in butter & garlic and everyone knows why caesar would be a no-no on the program.  Oh well, I'm not going to beat myself up over it.  I'm just going to keep it moving and hope the exercise offset any damage done.  When we get home I have my evening shake and my HealthPak.

USANA Reset Experience

I have to say so far I'm having a good experience on the USANA Reset.  I've proven to myself that I can do this so I've decided to continue and go for the Transformation Stage.  One tip: if you plan to continue, plan ahead with your Order.  All product is shipped out of Salt Lake City Utah.  I should have ordered yesterday so there wouldn't be a day when I'm without product.  Darn It!
I'm hitting the home stretch on the USANA Reset.  Let's see if I can actually achieve more  weight loss :)

My USANA Reset Review continues with Day 2.  After a good first day with the exception of a slight headache, I woke up only slightly optimistic.  After all it couldn't possibly work after just one day.  I got on my Tanita  Scale (which by the way is not nice) and there it was, a 3.2 pound weight loss.  I was floored!!!  I couldn't believe it.  When I started the USANA Reset I was 198.4 and this morning I was 195.2.  I had heard of others having that type of result but experiencing it first hand was amazing.  It gave me the motivation to keep going. And as you can see, I have along way to go!

The day went on as normal and I began to get used to the program making sure that every two hours I was consuming something.  The taste of the shakes is no problem, especially if I was going to get a great result from them.  I am getting bored with only drinking water & could see how a coffee drinker would have a hard time. I still had the slight headache so I finally broke down and took a Tylenol.  After that I was fine.

For me the biggest challenge with the USANA Reset is even though I'm on the program, I still have a family and part of being a Mom is cooking.  Family dinners are one of most important times of day in my household.  To keep myself from being tempted, I made sure I started dinner while I was eating my afternoon Protein Bar.  I also made a quick batch of humuus & had some raw vegetables.   I nibbled on that since you can have as many as you want.  At dinner I had 1 cup of Edamame which hit the spot.  

I save my Dutch Chocolate Nutrimeal Shake for the last shake of the day.  I enjoy this one while watching TV or reading in the evening.  Works sort of like a treat for a good day. I'm finding on the USANA Reset that it's all about perception. I'm using it as a time to get used to the taste of fresh vegetables and no sugar.  It's not the easiest thing I've ever done but I'm focusing on the rewards.    I took my Supplement Pack and called it a night.

After preparing for the Reset Challenge I was about to embark on, I woke up ready to get it started.  I have reached a point where I can't stand one more day of not taking action and doing something about my weight.  And I am hoping that USANA 5 Day Reset is the jump start I need to get my weight loss off the ground.

Day One of the USANA 5 Day Reset was Wednesday. I weighed myself and took measurements upon rising to establish my benchmark.  I drank 16ounces of water before my morning shake waited an hour and mixed up the Nutrimeal Strawberry Shake Packet.  I mixed 12ounces of water and a few ice cubes in a blender for about 30 seconds(I only use the shaker cups in a pinch).  Like everyone else, I have heard a lot about of the taste of the shakes & I'm sure we all have horror stories about the taste of different brands of meal replacements.  Frankly I don't think you'll ever hear anyone say "Hey I have a taste for a protein shake!"  But whatever the taste, I am willing to suck it up to lose weight.  I personally didn't think it was bad.  I mean I have had protein shakes that were worse.  But the taste was not offensive.  The strawberry flavor is very light and the shake was thick and creamy which I loved. I think when I get into the next phase I'll add frozen strawberries instead of ice to make the flavor stronger. I also took the HealthPak Supplements with my morning shake.

From there I was consuming something every two hours.  After the shake I had a serving of fruit and after that a Bar. At lunch I had the Vanilla Nutrimeal Shake which was fine too.  I was beginning to experience a slight headache but it was nothing I couldn't handle.  Early afternoon came and I had a one cup serving of stir fry vegetables.  I had that and was still hungry so I had another cup.  Remember you can have extra vegetables if needed.  As I prepared dinner for my family, I had the Peanut Butter Bar.  I wasn't a fan of it because it seemed to have a weird after taste to me.  I ate it anyway and kept moving.  I had my final evening shake, Nutrimeal Chocolate and the final HealthPak Supplements at around 8pm.  Through the day I had 8ounces of water before my meals.

5 Day Reset Day One Summary

It should be noted that I was only hungry in the early afternoon and another cup of vegetables took care of it. The headache did stay with me all day but it was okay.  I ended the day calling it a victory.  I just couldn't understand how people were reporting almost 5lb weight loss in one day.  It didn't seem possible so I was looking forward to weighing in first thing the next morning.

In my younger years, I didn't have a weight issue.  I've always had a bombshell build with an hour glass figure.
